Besakih Temple (Pura Besakih) is the largest temple complex and the holiest place of worship for Hindus in Bali. The temple complex consists of 46 temples, both large and small, and is divided into three main sections: Pura Panyungsung Jagat (20 temples), Pura Dadya (9 temples), and Pura Kawitan (17 temples).
Among these 46 temples, the most important and central temple is Penataran Agung Besakih, located at the highest point of the complex. This temple is considered the main place of worship and holds significant religious importance for the Balinese Hindu community.
Besakih Temple is not only a spiritual hub but also an architectural marvel, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and rice terraces. The temple complex is often referred to as Bali’s “Mother Temple” and serves as a focal point for Hindu ceremonies, including major rituals and offerings to the gods. Its vast scale and historical significance make it a must-visit destination for both spiritual seekers and tourists.
