Gelora Bung Karno Stadium (GBK) is the largest and most iconic sports stadium in Indonesia, located in the heart of Jakarta. Officially named Stadion Utama Gelora Bung Karno, it was inaugurated in 1962 and has since become a symbol of Indonesia’s sporting culture. The stadium was named in honor of Soekarno, Indonesia’s first president, who was instrumental in its construction as part of the preparations for the 1962 Asian Games, which Jakarta hosted. With a seating capacity of over 88,000, GBK is the largest stadium in Southeast Asia and serves as a venue for a wide variety of sports events, concerts, and national ceremonies.
