Tirta Empul Temple (Pura Tirta Empul Tampak Siring) is one of Bali’s most revered and historically significant temples, located in the village of Tampak Siring, near Ubud in central Bali. It is famous for its sacred spring water, believed to possess purifying qualities. The name “Tirta Empul” translates to “Holy Water Spring,” and the temple is dedicated to the Hindu god Vishnu, the deity of water and purification.
Set in a tranquil and lush tropical landscape, the temple offers a peaceful and spiritual atmosphere. The complex includes multiple sections, such as the main temple area, a courtyard with fountains, and the iconic bathing pools. These pools are the heart of the temple, where visitors engage in the traditional purification rituals. The spring water, which flows from a natural source, is funneled into a series of stone pools, each adorned with statues from which water flows. Both locals and tourists visit to bathe in the sacred waters, seeking physical and spiritual cleansing.
